Saving Mother's Day Cards for Scrapbooking

Using greeting cards as part of scrapbooking elements or subjects is becoming very popular these days, and with good reason.  Greeting cards are no longer bland, generic drawings but can be very artistic, creative, fun and whimsical.  If you've been saving Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking, how can you work these beautiful elements into your scrapbook pages to come up with something really unique and original and that looks as if you've really tied it in with the card itself?  There are a few things to keep in mind when using Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking, and we'll let you in on those things here.

First, consider the layout or theme that you're going to use for the scrapbook as a whole.  Usually a timeline theme is good; this displays all your Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking in order.  If you go this route, you might consider using the years as wording for each page.  You can display these numbers prominently, and either use the same type of font and lettering to tie them all together, or mix and match them.  If you use the same type of font and lettering, consider moving the placement of the year on the page - one page it's in the upper right, the next page the lower left, the next it's in the middle, and so on.  Or if you prefer some neatness and order to tie together all your Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking, use the same font or lettering for the years and keep them all in one spot.  This makes them look more uniform as you flip through the pages.

Since it's likely that those Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking came from your children, consider using a recent photo of each of them as an additional element on each page along with the card itself.  If the child is very young that year, you can use a more childlike theme and elements.  As the child ages, the theme or tone can become more mature as well.  But remember, there are no right or wrong ways for keeping or using Mother's Day cards for scrapbooking.  If you have some ideas on different themes or elements, then just remember to put them out on the page without adhering anything first so that you can move them around and change them; but in the end, it's your scrapbook to make as you please.
