Making scrapbooks is a hobby that is so enjoyable by many that there are even retreats and conventions that one can participate in, combining a long weekend vacation with learning new techniques and shopping at the same time.  But if scrapbooks have one drawback it's that they are rather big and bulky and hard to look at sometimes when they're completed.  This is where mini scrapbook albums come into play, something that can be fun and enjoyable for the adults and kids alike.  Let's look a bit closer at what mini scrapbook albums are and consider why you may enjoy them as much if not more than regular scrapbook albums.

First keep in mind the size.  A regular sheet of paper is 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches; a normal sized scrapbook page is usually 12 inches by 12 inches, so it's rather large.  Mini scrapbook albums are usually just 8 inches by 8 inches square, so they're smaller than a normal sheet of paper and about 2/3 the size of a normal scrapbook album.  This makes them easier to store and usually easier to display on a coffee table or other prominent place in the house.  This means that very often mini scrapbook albums are more likely to be enjoyed long after the scrapbook is actually produced, something that doesn't always happen with normal scrapbooks.

Many people find that mini scrapbook albums are easier to create, especially for those who are a bit artistically challenged.  Very often with normal sized pages it's easy to get overwhelmed with how you're going to place the photo, embellishments, wording, and so many other things needed to make the page look complete.  But with mini scrapbook albums you can easily add a photo or other memento and just a few more items and it looks professionally done.  This makes it easier for those new to the hobby to get their feet wet so to speak with composing a page and harmonizing the many elements together; they may want to do this several time to get comfortable with the idea of making up a page on their own before moving on to larger scrapbook pages.

Mini scrapbook albums also make great gifts for friends and family as a way to commemorate an event.  They often appreciate the smaller albums more since they're usually easier to put away or display!
