Update on Heidi Swapp and Tim Holtz on HSN Yesterday
Did you get a chance to watch either Heidi Swapp or Tim Holtz on HSN yesterday? I DVR’d most of their appearances. As predicted Heidi’s Parisian Anthology kit did sell out. I’m so glad I ordered mine early. She’s so full of energy and excitement. She’s always a joy to watch.
I have a confession. I’ve never used any of Tim Holtz’s products before except some of his ink, and that I just use in the typical way to ink the edges of paper. I do gaze with wonder at the display of his products in my local scrapbooking store, but I’m never sure what to do with them or how to put them together. The scrapbook collector in me wants so badly to buy up some of those vintage items “just-in-case” I come up with the perfect project for them.
After watching Tim demonstrate some of his products on HSN yesterday, now I have to give them a try. Did you see the effects he got with the different types of ink? Wow, did that ever look fun! It reminded me of my days as a preschool teacher when it was all about the process and not the product. Just have fun with it and see what happens! I so have to try some of these inks.
To convince me even further is his book, A Compendium of Curiosities. Even the name sounds fun! This is an idea and instruction book that shows you how to use Tim’s products. It gives project ideas and techniques as well. Since it’s raining here and supposed to get cold again, I’m thinking this is the perfect cure for cabin fever! I’m hoping my local scrapbooking store has it stock, because I really don’t want to wait for a shipment from HSN! I want this stuff to play with today! I’ll let you know how it goes.

Heidi Swapp and Tim Holtz on HSN Tomorrow
Heidi Swapp and Tim Holtz will be on HSN tomorrow, March 21, 2011. Check your local listings for times. It looks like they will be on in the early morning and then in the afternoon. I watch Heidi Swapp on her House of 3 webcast on Wednesday nights, and she previewed the 3 kits that will be available on HSN. I know her stuff often sells out, so I’ve already ordered the Parisian Anthology and the Daily Junque kits. They are already available on HSN’s website for order.
Even if you don’t want to order any new scrapbooking supplies, do tune into watch Heidi’s appearance. I’m sure she will be showing some cool new projects, and she’s got a passion for scrapbooking that is contagious! Set your DVR if you can’t make it.
Here’s a peek at Daily Junque. I love this line! I have a few pieces that I bought from Archiver’s, but the HSN kit is a great deal. Not all the pieces below are in the HSN kit! This is just a preview of the products in Daily Junque by House of 3.

What Scrapbooking Classes Are You Taking This Holiday Season?
It’s that time again when your list of things to do seems completely out of control. The holidays mean more shopping, more baking, more parties, more time with family! Even though my time is limited during December, I try each year to take advantage of a couple of the online scrapbook classes that not only teach me new scrapbooking skills, but also help me to reflect and enjoy this wonderful season.
There are so many online scrapbooking classes going on right now, it’s hard to choose only one. I’m taking 3, which may sound a little crazy, but the awesome thing about these classes is there is no pressure. I can do them at my own pace and finish them in January if I need more time. I also try to keep them simple. I try to focus on the experience with these projects, not necessarily a perfectly embellished product.
Here are just a few of my favorite online scrapbooking classes this December:
Jessica Sprague’s Inspiration Everywhere – This is a free class that runs from November 29-December 8. It includes creativity prompts, printable projects and organization ideas. You don’t need Photoshop for this class either. Jessica is one of my favorite online scrapbooking teachers. She’s awesome! (And she thinks you’re awesome too!)
Tiffany Tillman’s 25 Days of Templates: Holiday 2010 Edition – I’ve become a huge fan of Tiffany’s template classes. This class is available for both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements and runs from December 1 through December 25. Tiffany will be teaching photography tips for the holidays, journaling ideas, design techniques and digital skills. This class is not a repeat of her previous template classes. It features new templates, digital scrapbooking products, lessons and techniques. One of the highlights of this class is an exclusive holiday digital kit designed by Paislee Press!
Shimelle’s Journal Your Christmas – This is one of Shimelle’s scrapbooking classes that run each year, like her Learn Something New Everyday class. Once you take the class, you get access to past year’s classes as well as ongoing registration in future classes at no additional cost. It’s a great value! Journal Your Christmas class begins December 1 through January 6, and includes 37 prompts that you receive by email. There is a digital kit, and a class forum is included. She also provides photography tips, crafting tutorials and a bonus workbook with holiday blogging tips for bloggers. I love this class because she really keeps the journaling process simple and flexible.
Ali Edwards’ December Daily – Now this isn’t a class, but it’s an annual project that has become an Ali tradition. She walks you through her process of creating an album for each day of December. You can even go back and look at her albums from previous years. If you need a shortcut for your December Daily album, she has created digital templates for your album available at Designer Digitals. December Daily has become a holiday favorite throughout the scrapbooking community.

So, what holiday scrapbooking classes are you taking this year?
Scrapbooking Ebook: Journaling That Matters by Ella Publishing
Even though I love to write, journaling on my scrapbook pages is one of the hardest steps in designing a layout for me. I want to get the wording just right, and I still need to consider how it will look on my page. Ella Publishing just released a new ebook called “Journaling That Matters: Simple Strategies for Finding the Right Words” by Angie Lucus and Kelly Jeppson. I love Ella ebooks.
