Some Words of Caution About Free Borders for Scrapbooking
Any experienced scrapper knows that you can spend literally hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on this hobby! Walk into any scrapbook supply store and think about all the kits, books, and even videos you can buy. To save a few dollars, you may be looking for free borders for scrapbooking that you can find online and print yourself. This can be a great idea for certain pages, but there are a few words of warning you might want to consider first.
Do you have a printer that will actually print these free borders for scrapbooking in such a way that they're good enough to use on your pages? Sometimes we think out little desktop inkjet printer will do the trick, but are very disappointed with the results. It's true also that sometimes the provider of these free borders for scrapbooking won't always know how to save them on their site so that they're crisp enough for printing. Some photos are a bit blurry and out of focus, and this will translate poorly to the printed page. Remember that if the image on your computer screen is blurry, this is how it will print. Your printer won't somehow focus the image better or clean it up at all for you.
There can also be some concerns with color matching when it comes to free borders for scrapbooking. It's surprising how often we think that the color we see on our computer screen is exactly what we're going to get, but in reality it just doesn't print out that way. This might be how your computer screen is set, as some are a bit washed out or not as clear as they could be, and sometimes it's just the image on the screen not being a good representation of the border itself.
Using free borders for scrapbooking can be a great idea and can save you some money in the long run. However, they can also be a set of headaches all to themselves. Some scrappers unfortunately spend far too much time trying to get these borders to print out correctly and to look like they do online, and lose some joy in their hobby. So don't hesitate to actually search for free borders for scrapbooking, but just be prepared for a bit more work and maybe even a bit of frustration when you do use them!
