If you're lucky enough to have an entire room set aside for scrapbooking then you probably want to make sure that it's decorated in such a way that you actually enjoy spending time in there. If the room is plain and boring you won't look forward to being there and that can really detract from enjoying your hobby. So if you're looking for tips on decorating your scrapbook room, let's look at some fun and affordable ways you can do just that.
Remember that decorating your scrapbook room will mean making it an environment that you'll enjoy being in. Do you like bright and busy colors or do you prefer something that is more soothing? Don't assume that just because it's your scrapbook room that you need to make it something different than you typically enjoy, although decorating your scrapbook room might mean something that is a bit more fun than other rooms. You're trying to make it someplace that's inviting but that also keeps you energized and creative at the same time. So even if you like neutral colors, try to paint one wall a bolder color than normal or put a few nice stripes along one wall. However, don't go overboard and make it feel like a child's playroom or think that bright and bold colors will energize you - too much of a good thing will just be overpowering and may actually drain your energy! When decorating your scrapbook room remember that you'll spend a lot of time in there so don't make it too hard on the eyes, especially when you're trying to do something different with your decorating.
Another tip when decorating your scrapbook room is to remember that you're probably going to need some space for organizing all your small items and elements. If you can possibly put up shelves then do it; even smaller ones can help to keep things organized and off your desk. Some even get very creative and use cups or cans that they've decorated or painted and screw these right to wall; this is part of decorating your scrapbook room and keeping it organized as well. Remember not to do something like this just haphazardly but to arrange these items in a nice way such as along a straight line or in a square to make it visually appealing. Some have even found that shoeboxes that are covered in a nice paper or painted can be tacked or adhered to the wall for storage when decorating your scrapbook room. You can put them on a lower part of the wall so that you can see inside of them or turn them and attach the bottom part of the box to the wall so that you can see.
One good thing to use when decorating your scrapbook room is your own work! Scrapbooks are beautiful and creative but if there's one drawback to making albums it's that they're closed up and rarely seen unless you purposely take them out. Your own pages make for beautiful elements when decorating your scrapbook room! If you have pages that are too large to frame, one quick trick that some decorators have used is to put hooks in the walls and then hang binder clips from these hooks. You can then clip your pages to the binder clips and they hang freely but still look like artwork. Make sure you arrange these nicely as well rather than just haphazardly - a few straight lines are easier on the eyes than just having them scattered randomly about. You can also hang several corkboards on the walls and then pin your pages to the corkboards for a nice collage look. If you do use corkboards when decorating your scrapbook room be sure to dress them up by painting the wooden frame around them or staining it a nice color rather than leaving them plain. These ideas mean that you can also rotate the pages you display rather freely; this means that you're actually decorating your scrapbook room as often as you want without it costing you anything extra since the pages are already done!
To really add a personal and unique touch when decorating your scrapbook room, try making one wall look just like a scrapbook page! Get a nice photo of your children or something else you enjoy and have it enlarged. Adhere it to one wall as you would a scrapbook page - off to one side or close to one corner. Use stencils to paint a border around it the way you would a scrapbook page. You can then add other decorations that resemble embellishments and wording. For example, if you're decorating your scrapbook room and decide to use a picture of your children together you can stencil the word Family or Togetherness or Precious at the top of the wall; be sure to use large letters so it looks proportionate. You can then cut out different shapes from fabric remnants and use those as embellishments. This should be something that coordinates with the photo - cars if everyone is in the car or van, umbrellas if it's a rainy day, or just hearts to show how much you love your family! By decorating your scrapbook room as if one wall is an actual scrapbook page you can be constantly encouraged to be creative with your hobby. A good idea when trying this is to make a sketch or plan of how you'll have the wall done before you actually start putting things on the wall so you know everything will look appropriate.
You can have some fun when decorating your scrapbook room so don't be afraid to try something new and different. Dress it up with fabrics for a welcoming touch - get some throw pillows you can put on a chair or add a small table that you can cover with a nice cloth and remember when decorating your scrapbook room to put out your completed albums as well!
