Using Self-Adhesive Fabric for Scrapbooking

When the hobby of scrapbooking became popular it was very basic and straightforward.  Some scraps of paper around a picture or other subject was all one used to create a page.  These days, scrapbooks have taken on a life of their own with embellishments and other decorative elements being everything from glitter to buttons and bows and even self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking.  These types of embellishments really add a lot of interest to the pages as they give it a 3-D type of tone; not only are they nice to look at, but now you just want to reach out and touch them as well!  So if you're looking for some self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking, how can you incorporate this into your pages?

First, keep in mind that there are many craft or fabric stores that sell self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking.  These are designed as peel and stick options where you simply peel off the protective backing and stick your fabric to your scrapbook page.  This makes them very convenient to use - no messy glues or adhesives to use yourself.  They are also coordinated with scrapbook pages and other elements.  When using this self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking, there are a few things to remember.  One is that while they may be in a particular shape or part of a template, you're not bound to keep them that way.  If you want to cut the fabric to make a frame for a photo or into the shape of a heart or flower, you certainly can and should do that.  Your scrapbooks are your own creation and adding your personal touches is exactly what you should do.

Also, be sure that you lay out everything on your page before you actually expose the adhesive.  You might want to move some things around or take some things away, and you need to have everything planned out before you begin gluing or adhering anything.  This is going to be true of that self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking as well.  And of course if you have other fabric that you want to use such as scraps from your sewing kit, don't hesitate to get some spray adhesive from your craft supply store and use that.  You're not limited to just the self-adhesive fabric for scrapbooking that you find in stores; for your scrapbook pages, you can use any decorative element that you choose.
