Stocking up on some state scrapbooking supplies is a great way to celebrate your home state, and to have a reminder of a state that you've visited or where you born.  But of course it takes much more than even the best state scrapbooking supplies to make for good scrapbooking pages; let's examine some ways you can really improve your layout and design of these pages to make something unforgettable.

For one, you want to celebrate the individuality of each state and what it has to offer.  Avoid just having a clip art of the shape of the state; of course you can start with this, but you want to really dress up these common types of state scrapbooking supplies.  For instance, Florida of course means oranges, sunshine, and beaches.  You might also include alligators and palm trees.  For California, you can choose any region such as Napa Valley or Hollywood and use these types of embellishments.  Iowa would mean corn fields, North Carolina means the Great Smokey Mountains, and Michigan means the Great Lakes and winter sports.  Don't just limit yourself to the accessories you get with your state scrapbooking supplies and kits, but look online for photos or other clip art to add as well.  Sometimes if you visit that state's home page on the internet you can find a tourist board or travel department that has some great suggestions on fun things to do in the state or great landmarks that you can also include. 

Another idea for dressing up your state scrapbooking supplies is to use postcards from this state.  If you don't have any, remember that you can go online and buy postcards from tourist shops and stores very easily.  Usually they're just a few dollars but they make a great addition to your scrapbook pages.  And of course if you have actual photos of that state or those favorite landmarks, add these to your store-bought state scrapbooking supplies.  They're especially nice if they work into the theme you've chosen.  For example, your Florida page might center on oranges if you have a photo of someone under an orange tree.  Your California page can be a Hollywood theme if you have a photo of a motion picture studio or other famous landmark.  Just be sure to use something personal and special in order to dress up these scrapbook pages; that's the whole point of scrapbooking!
