Some Ideas for Christmas Scrapbook Layouts

Searching for unique and original Christmas scrapbook layouts isn't as easy as you might think.  Most suggestions simply deal with your red and green papers and with attaching the typical Christmas ornaments and holly around your pages as embellishments.  But there are some fun new ideas for Christmas scrapbook layouts that you might want to consider before you get bored with the entire project itself.

Getting away from the tired old red and green colors is one way to start with unique and original Christmas scrapbook layouts.  Who's to say that your scrapbook can't be the colors of winter, namely strong blues for the winter sky and white for snow?  You can also invoke an old-time, Victorian feel by using washed out browns and grays and using Victorian style stamps and embellishments.  Try looking at pages and designs in an entirely new light when thinking of your Christmas scrapbook layouts and you might find that many of the sheets you would never associate with the holiday would actually work quite well.

Your photos are also going to be very important to your Christmas scrapbook layouts.  One favorite technique of many scrappers is to take a lot of photos one right after another especially of the children opening the gifts.  Then when you go to assemble your page you use smaller-sized photos of them tearing open the gift and one large photo of their excited face once the present is completely unwrapped.  This way your Christmas scrapbook layouts seem to tell a story all by themselves.  Very often you don't need a lot of verbiage or wording for these types of pages.  Try to stick with one word or a simple phrase, such as Christmas Morning, So Excited, Santa Came, or Just What I Wanted!  And it's good to always include some wording about the year so be sure to leave some room somewhere on your page for that as well; you can even include your family name such as "Smith Family Christmas, 2008."

Don't get too overwhelmed with Christmas scrapbook layouts.  As with all scrapbook pages, lay out all your items and embellishments and take your time to move things around, take items away, add in new items and so on until you're absolutely pleased with the page.  Once you're sure of your Christmas scrapbook layouts then you can begin to glue your elements down!
