Have you ever been to a scrapbook crop?  This is the term used to describe a gathering of scrapbook lovers who share their ideas, inspiration, past works, and new materials and equipment.  Some are organized by those who sell scrapbook supplies as a way to introduce their materials and make sales and some are organized by scrapbook lovers who just want to be around others who love their hobby.  If you're thinking of attending a scrapbook crop, there are some things you may want to consider before going so you know you'll make the most out of it.

First, be prepared to participate.  You can go to a scrapbook crop and just observe the work of others but it's usually better to bring your own supplies and equipment and try to have a hands-on approach to everything being presented.  Don't hesitate to ask about equipment you see that you don't recognize and step up to try it out.  If you see someone else with a great page they've created, ask them to show you how they put the components together.  Remember that a scrapbook crop is not like going to a movie; you're supposed to participate and not keep quiet!

You might also be prepared to spend some money at a scrapbook crop if you know that there will be merchants showing their latest equipment and materials.  It's easy to think that you won't be interested or don't want to spend money but once you're there, you may be surprised at how much you love the items you see and want your own.  It's usually better to count on spending some money at a scrapbook crop so you don't get surprised once you're there, rather than not budgeting for any new purchases.

It's also good to go with someone else such as a friend or relative, if you can.  You'll probably make many new friends at your first scrapbook crop but most people are more comfortable and happy when they have someone with them, and this way you won't be distracted from enjoying yourself.  A scrapbook crop is a great time for a mother and daughter or two sisters to spend time together, and of course two friends can also bond over their new creations and shared hobby.  Whatever you do, just make sure you relax and enjoy your time and your creations while there.
