Some Tips for Great Easter Scrapbooking Pages

As winter dies down and spring approaches, people usually have on their minds anything that will remind them that warm weather is right around the corner.  For many, Easter is the real sign that spring has begun.  Considering how much fun the holiday can be, is it any wonder that many love to make up Easter scrapbooking pages to keep those great days in mind?  Whether for the kids or the adults alone, celebrating Easter is a popular ritual for many and putting together an album of Easter scrapbooking pages can be a great way to commemorate as the years go by.  But before you just buy some fancy embellishments and put them on a page filled with tulips, keep in mind some tips you can use to make up great Easter scrapbooking pages everyone will love.

One thing to remember about Easter scrapbooking pages is that you don't necessarily need to use the traditional colors of spring.  While pastels are of course favored by many, it's absolutely okay to use whatever appeals to you.  If you love deep rose or warm earth tones, you can certainly find papers and embellishments in this tone or theme that will work for you.  This is especially good when you're making up Easter scrapbooking pages for the adults and not the children.  You may have photos of a family dinner or of everyone gathering outside of church and of course these types of mementos don't necessarily need the pastel colors.  Usually just about any color scheme can work well for those types of Easter scrapbooking pages.

However if you are going the more traditional route you may want to concentrate on the colors of spring.  Most Easter scrapbooking pages have tulip designs since tulips are associated with both Easter and spring, and of course this means soft pastel colors with perhaps a bit of bold yellow and stronger pink thrown in for accents.

Embellishments you use for Easter scrapbooking pages are practically endless.  Of course bunnies, eggs, and baskets are typical elements for these pages but you can also concentrate on flowers and spring landscapes.  These elements are nice because they're very easy to make on your own.  Tulips and other flowers require a simple stencil or you can even create them freehand, just outlining a flower bud and cutting a long strip of green for the stem.  By making up your own embellishments for Easter scrapbooking pages this way you can create something truly unique.  Baskets are also very easy; a half rounded rectangle for the bottom and a long strip you bend around for the handle are all that's needed.  Many find that for their Easter scrapbooking pages they can have the photo coming up out of the basket.  Eggs too are of course easy to make and there's no end to the decorations you can use for their design, or you can simply cut out the shape from a fancy printed paper.  There are also many different embellishments you can get online for free for your Easter scrapbooking pages; flowers, eggs, bunnies, and items like these can be found easily and you simply need to print them off and cut them out.

One idea that many people enjoy when creating Easter scrapbooking pages is to use a few different photos, one for each successive year.  This way you can see how the kids have grown and changed over the years.  Or you can use a photo from each year on a new page and add it to an album so that you can flip through and see the years go by.  By doing this with your Easter scrapbooking pages you're creating a journal that's sure to be enjoyed for years to come.

Sayings and quotes are good to use on Easter scrapbooking pages as well.  You might consider things such as Let the Hunt Begin, or Eggs-tra Special, or Family Traditions, or Easter Basket, or anything else you enjoy.  What many people use in scrapbooks, and what can work well for Easter scrapbooking pages, is to mix up the font you use for your phrases and sayings.  The first word can be large and fancy and the rest of the words are in a plain but bold font.  This really makes the phrase pop from the page and add visual interest as well.  You may see this done on other scrapbooks and hadn't thought about using this technique for your Easter scrapbooking pages, but give it some thought and see if it might work.  You can also do this if you have photos from different years - have your phrase in one type of font and the years themselves in the opposite type.

Making up Easter scrapbooking pages may be a great opportunity to get the kids involved since they're so much fun!  You can start out by showing them some examples of other pages you see online and try to copy those somewhat closely; if children can see an end product this holds their attention more successfully.  They can also pick out their own embellishments and decorative items for their Easter scrapbooking pages so that they're thoroughly involved.  Let them color the eggs and the flowers or have them pick their favorite stencils to work with.  They may love hearts or diamonds or stars and who says these can't be used on Easter scrapbooking pages?  If it will get them involved with scrapbooking and allow them to express themselves and their own creativity, why not?

Creating Easter scrapbooking pages is like creating any other type of scrapbook.  You need to make something original to you and that is something you find visually appealing.  There are no rules and no right or wrong ways to go about doing this.  Use your imagination and of course don't hesitate to go online and see what you can find as inspiration, but work at making your albums an expression of you and you're sure to create pages you love.
