Tips for Working With St. Patrick's Day Scrapbooking Paper

If you're looking for some great St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper, you may be tempted to just buy anything green with shamrocks and elves on it and put it all together.  While there are some great designs available for St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper, you do want to be careful as you would with any themed paper and embellishments.  It's easy to go overboard with the items you use and your pages wind up looking overwhelming rather than looking planned and professional.  And it's true that you can often make up your own St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper and embellishments if you just use your creativity and imagination.  Let's see how this might be possible.

One thing to remember about using St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper is that you want to be sure to coordinate your shades of green.  It's easy to think that all shades of green will go well with each other but sometimes if you hold up two different sheets next to each other, you might realize that they actually clash.  Sometimes a primary shade of green can seem too strong for one that leans toward the pastel shade, or a particular shade may have some tints of other colors in them.  If you're using St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper that you've chosen yourself rather than purchasing in a pack, try to compare them to each other first so you can be sure they'll work well together.

When working with St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper you also want to be careful about your embellishments.  Obviously many of them are green as well and if you use too many green embellishments on green paper you're going to be overwhelmed with green, or things will be lost on the paper.  Many find that if you're using green St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper, you should use gold or silver embellishments instead.  You can probably find decorations such as shamrocks and rainbows that are made of a shiny material rather than a dull matte, and this can really make them "pop" against the green of the St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.  Try using embellishments like this rather than just making everything green to see how it looks.

Be careful of the font you use for your wording when working with St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.  Typically St. Patrick's Day is fun and whimsical, so choose a font that's easy to read but still has a very fun feel to it.  If you use plain block letters this might seem too dull and a font that's too fancy can seem too formal and might be better left for occasions like weddings.  Your St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper might already have some wording on it and if it does, be careful of adding any more wording in addition since this can make it seem as if they clash.

Of course if you don't want to actually purchase St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper you may find that you have paper already that would work very well.  Any shade of green with any type of design would probably be appropriate.  If you check your supply of paper you might find you have some green stripped or a green sheet with blocks that would work well.  You can also make up your own embellishments and decorative items when working with St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.  Think of how easy it would be to draw a pot of gold and a rainbow.  The pot can start with a circle and then two feet at the bottom and a straight line at the top to make it look like an actual pot.  Add a curved line for a handle and some bubbles to resemble the gold.  Rainbows are also easy to draw by hand, as are shamrocks an even mugs of beer!

And you can add other embellishments as well when working with St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper; you don't need to rely simply on these stereotypical designs.  Nice scrollwork can be a great photo border or a border for the page itself.

The photo or other item you use as a focal point will also determine a lot about how you work with your St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.  If the photo is very busy with lots of details you may want to keep your page simple so that things don't clash.  But if you're using something else such as a party invitation or concert tickets as your focal point, you can add more embellishments and decorations to your St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.  Smaller focal points really need to be dressed up whereas larger ones can seem overpowering already.  You need to make sure all items on the page are proportionate.  And because most St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper is somewhat busy itself or may include decorations such as shamrocks and rainbows, you need to be very careful about what you add.

As with all paper and themes, make sure that when you're using St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper you lay out all your items and work with them, moving things around, taking things away and adding other things so you know you're satisfied with the finished product.  Once you do that, then you should consider gluing or adhering your items.  Don't put any glue on anything until you're sure of all your items and their placement.  This is especially true for St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper.

There are many items available when it comes to St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper and embellishments.  Most online stores sell a wide variety of items; you're biggest problem might be deciding on which items to pick versus others!  When shopping for St. Patrick's Day scrapbooking paper, be sure to set aside enough time to really check through all the options you have and don't rush your choices.  As with all other choices for scrapbooking, you may find that all those options can be overwhelming because you have so much from which to pick!
