Making Money With Wholesale Scrapbooking Supplies

Would you like to make a little bit of extra money without having to leave your home or find day care for the kids?  Would you like to work in an industry that you know and love?  Then why not consider selling wholesale scrapbooking supplies?  If you love scrapbooking and are knowledgeable about the hobby and everything involved with it, you already have an advantage over those that don't know the difference between a brad and an eyelet!  Selling wholesale scrapbooking supplies is one of those jobs where you can decide how much time you want to devote to it and can work right from your home.  So how do you go about making money by selling wholesale scrapbooking supplies?

Probably the first thing you need is a reseller's license or sales tax I.D. number from your state; those who provide wholesale scrapbooking supplies to resellers need to know that you're going to charge appropriate sales tax when you sell to those in your own state.  To get a reseller's license or sales tax I.D. number you need a business name which is usually done through your county clerk's office.  Before you start to think that it's getting too complicated just to resell wholesale scrapbooking supplies, remember that a business name is as easy as an Assumed Name or Doing Business As certificate.  You pick a business name and apply for the name with your social security number.  Usually it costs around ten to twenty dollars to file the simple piece of paper with your county, and you might want to call the clerk's office first to make sure your chosen name isn't already being used.  Often they have a website you check as well!  Do a quick internet search for your county and you'll probably easily find the instructions on how to get a business name.  Once you have the business name, you apply for the reseller's license or sales tax I.D., which is also just a matter of filling out a piece of paper and filing it.  Once you do these things you now have a business name and can start selling wholesale scrapbooking supplies - and just about anything else you so choose!

Okay, so you have a business name and sales tax I.D.; the next step is to find those that provide wholesale scrapbooking supplies.  Usually a quick internet search is all you need.  You can tell those that are really wholesalers because they won't sell their supplies to anyone that doesn't have a business name and sales tax I.D. number.  To be truly wholesale scrapbooking supplies they should be providing their materials only to those that will resell them under a business name and not to the general public.

Once you find some companies that sell wholesale scrapbooking supplies and you go through their application process to be a vendor or reseller (or whatever they call it), you're just about ready to start making money!  The next step is to decide how you want to resell those wholesale scrapbooking supplies.  If you want to do everything online then of course you need a domain name, which is the "www.name.com" address of your website.  You can usually apply for one through Yahoo, GoDaddy, or just about any site that reserves domain names for you.  When selling wholesale scrapbooking supplies you want a name that is easy to spell, easy to remember, and that preferably has something to do with scrapbooks or crafts or something else.  Once you have a domain name you then can build a website, and this can be somewhat easy if you go through Yahoo or some other site that allows you to build a simple website for not a lot of money.  You can of course pay a professional to design and build your site where you'll sell wholesale scrapbooking supplies but that can be costly depending on how many products you have and how much work is involved.

If you don't want to resell your wholesale scrapbooking supplies online there are of course many other avenues for sales.  What about having home parties like they do for Tupperware and other items?  You can print up brochures and order forms if you have a creative eye for those types of things.  You can also spread the word among your friends and have a scrapbooking party where you can introduce them to the wholesale scrapbooking supplies you're reselling.  You might also be able to get a booth at a local craft fair or trade center.  Really, the possibilities are endless and are limited only by your imagination.

So how do you actually make money with wholesale scrapbooking supplies?  The company that provides your materials charges you a certain amount, and then you turn around and charge your customers more than that.  Your profit is the difference between those two prices.  Some places that sell wholesale scrapbooking supplies to resellers require them to mark up their product by at least 50%, which means that for every dollar they charge you for materials you need to charge your customers $1.50.  But very often your markup is up to you and you can put certain materials on sale or use whatever pricing you see fit.  Just make sure that when you're dealing with those that are providing you with wholesale scrapbooking supplies that you read through your agreement and understand how you're charged for supplies, how they're shipped, and any other details you need to understand to be successful.

Many stay-at-home moms have found that reselling wholesale scrapbooking supplies is a great way to earn some money while staying with the kids and not needing to find a babysitter or day care provider.  You can work as much or as little as you want.  It's also a fun and enjoyable way to make a living!  You're working in an industry that's creative and artistic and that everyone enjoys.  And it's usually very affordable so many people engage in scrapbooking for a lifetime.
