Some Tips for Scrapbooking a Retirement Party
There are probably few events that people look forward to more than the day they retire. Being able to toss out the alarm clock and sleep in, and not worry about rush hour traffic and deadlines and ringing phones and complaining customers is a dream come true for most. If you're looking to preserve the memories of your celebration by scrapbooking the retirement party photos and mementos, how can you do so in a way that really does this occasion justice? Sure, anyone can toss some pictures and borders together and call it a scrapbook page, but you want something that is really going to be enjoyed for years to come. If you are scrapbooking a retirement party set of mementos, we have some tips for you to keep in mind.
First, remember that while retirement signals the end of one set of circumstances, it also means the beginning of another. When scrapbooking a retirement party or anything else that celebrates retirement, remember to have elements that celebrate the life that this person is going to be looking forward to. What are their plans for after retirement? What hobbies and activities are they going to indulge in? If they plan on getting an RV to drive cross country, use travel elements. If he or she loves to fish or bowl, then use decorations on at least one page for these things. Be sure that not everything revolves around their career.
But of course when you are scrapbooking a retirement party you want to honor their career as well. You might consider a timeline arrangement where you document the various years of their career. Did they start out as a clerk and then work their way up the ladder? Where did they go to college? What honors or achievements did they receive along the way? Have a separate page for each of these various aspects of their past work life and you have a great overview of their career as a whole. When scrapbooking a retirement party, you can really celebrate a person's complete job experience no matter what their work was. Include photos of the friends they've made along the way and you're sure to have a great scrapbook that everyone will love.
