Creating Your Own Scrapbooking Armoires

There's nothing worse for the hobby of scrapbooking than to invest in some really great supplies only to find them bent, broken, or torn when you want to use them, or worse yet, not being able to find them at all!  Many scrappers are finding that scrapbooking armoires are a great furniture option, as they not only keep your supplies neat and organized but can keep them hidden behind closed doors when not in use.  This means that you can have scrapbooking armoires anywhere in your house, although it's nice to keep them where you're going to be doing your scrapbooking.  If you have an armoire or other piece of furniture that you want to convert for your scrapbooking hobby, how to go about doing that?

Probably the most important thing to remember about setting up scrapbooking armoires is that you're going to have a lot of small elements that you'll want stored, along with your flat paper that needs to stay flat and untouched.  This means that your armoire is going to need those little storage areas and compartments.  If you have one that is designed for clothes or televisions, you'll probably need to add your own.  If you're not handy with a screwdriver, that's okay since you can purchase small drawer units and shelves that can be set right inside scrapbooking armoires or easily attached to the inside of the doors.

Most armoires have drawers and you can use small organizing elements to turn these into perfect storage areas for your scrapbooking armoires.  For instance, sock organizers can work for small elements and stamps.  Or get small plastic boxes and line them up side by side in the drawers.  If you don't want to actually purchase items, remember that you can be creative with what you use for storage.  Those old Tupperware containers that you never use can work well, as can old margarine tubs.  You can even use the caps from hairspray bottles, if you wash them out well!  Anything that will fit into the drawers of your scrapbooking armoires will work well; don't think that you can only use "real" containers or organizers for your scrapbook supplies.  Large envelopes can work well for stickers or other flat supplies.

A little imagination can turn your furniture into beautiful and useful scrapbooking armoires if you just work and apply yourself to creating them and personalizing them to your own hobby.
