If you have pictures of a birthday, whether a child's or a grown-up's, you probably want to keep those photos in some type of scrapbook so that they can be treasured for years to come. Adding the right birthday scrapbooking titles and doing so in a creative and fun way can really make those pages and albums come alive. Sure, anyone can put Happy Birthday over the top of the page and leave it like that, but this just means that your pages are going to look just like everyone else's. So instead why not try to make up some unique birthday scrapbooking titles that really capture the event and the personality of the honoree, and use those titles in ways that are going to be different than how everyone else uses them? Here are some suggestions for how to make your birthday scrapbooking titles really stand out.
Placing Your Birthday Scrapbooking Titles
For one thing, get away from the typical placement of birthday scrapbooking titles, that is, going across the top of the page. People that are not experienced scrappers often get stuck on using their wording this way; they often assume that a page "title" means it should be put where a title should go. Some other placement ideas for birthday scrapbooking titles might be going down one side of the page or along the bottom of the page. Some even use the words as a frame for the photo, making the lettering large enough that the words really stand out even when wrapped in a square around the picture. By moving the wording around on the page you get away from papers that look just like everyone else's.
Mixing Everything Up
You can also try to mix up your birthday scrapbooking titles by making the first word larger or fancier, or doing this for any one word in particular. For instance if you include the person's name in the title you can have Happy Birthday in a fancy font and then Kaitlyn or Jeremy or whatever their name is in something square and thick. This gives birthday scrapbooking titles a lot of what is called "visual interest," meaning that it's interesting to look at on its own and not just functional. Or try the opposite - your wording in square, block letters and your greeting or other wording in something fancy and frilly. This works well if you break up your birthday scrapbooking titles; put the greeting in the upper left corner of the page and their name in the lower right, or put the name going down one side of the paper. The key point here is to mix up the wording rather than just putting it in a straight line or just typing it out plainly.
Use Birthday Scrapbooking Titles to Tell a Story
Another idea for tying in birthday scrapbooking titles with your album is to let them tell a story. Many make up baby albums that start with the child as an infant and that follows him or her over the years, but you can do the same for adults as well. Try to get some photos from when he or she was younger and work those into an entire album; your birthday scrapbooking titles can tie everything together. Remember that these photos don't need to be from past birthdays alone; a favorite family vacation, a former family pet, a fancy outfit; all of these things can be worked into a timeline album and the birthday scrapbooking titles can reflect this. Usually if you make the titles similar in appearance on each page this can tie everything together. Use the same font or design or color of letters and everything will look coordinated. If you have the first part of your phrase in block letters you can make the last word of the phrase fancy and frilly on every page, and so on.
Actual Birthday Scrapbooking Titles
Remember too that birthday scrapbooking titles don't need to include the phrase Happy Birthday. Usually a person can tell from the photos what you're trying to commemorate and really don't need it spelled out for them! Use the birthday number (their age), or for adults, phrases like Over the Hill, One Foot in the Grave, or 29 … Again! Of course if you use birthday scrapbooking titles like this you want to make sure that the person in the photos has a good sense of humor - sometimes birthdays can be a sensitive issue for some, so don't forget to use some discretion in this area. The last thing you want is someone's feelings to be hurt over something as simple as birthday scrapbooking titles! So be funny but be nice.
Here are some common birthday scrapbooking titles you can use:
Age is only important if you're cheese.
Fifty is the new 20.
Don't just count your years … make your years count.
Over the hill … but the climb was terrific!
So many candles, so little cake.
There is no time like the … presents!
There is still no cure for the common birthday.
Everyone is the age of their heart.
Remember that the birthday scrapbooking titles you use should reflect the personality of the person in the photos. Work in something about the party, the presents, or their favorite hobbies. Your birthday book doesn't need to be about just their birthday but should reflect the person as a whole. You can of course use phrases such as World's Greatest Golfer Celebrates Another or He Actually Left His Office Long Enough to Celebrate a Birthday as your birthday scrapbooking titles. They reflect the personality of the honoree and can really make your album and pages stand out. Remember that there's no right way or wrong way to make up a scrapbook album, so if you want to use some phrase in particular or some fancy font or decoration, then do that! Make your album unique and personal and it will be enjoyed for years.
