Make Your Own Page Elements for Scrapbooking SeaWorld

When my children were very young, we lived just miles from SeaWorld Adventure Park in San Diego.  We held season passes for several years, and needless to say, we have many photos of our visits at SeaWorld.  Finding ways to creatively scrapbook SeaWorld photos can be challenging.  Many of the major scrapbooking manufacturers do  make embellishments with a SeaWorld theme, but they can sometimes be difficult to find if you don't live near a SeaWorld location.

If you do an online search for SeaWorld stickers or SeaWorld paper, you will find some online scrapbooking stores that offer those products.  However, you can also get creative with your embellishments. Here are a few ideas for scrapbooking SeaWorld without using scrapbooking supplies specifically made for SeaWorld.

  • Companies like Mrs. Grossman have stickers of dolphins, sharks, or polar bears that could be used to accent your SeaWorld pages.
  • You can use embellishments with a water theme, like the ocean, puddles or splashes.
  • One of my favorite ideas is to use the park map you get with your admission.  Set aside at least one of them and keep it in good condition until you get home.  Then you can cut out items from the map and use them in your scrapbooking SeaWorld pages.
  • Even the shopping bag from your souvenir purchases can be used.  Cut out the SeaWorld logo and use it on an album title page.
  • Save the show schedule brochure from your SeaWorld trip.  Not only can it be used to help you remember the shows for your page journaling, it can also be used as a background a page or a page element.
  • If you have many pictures for scrapbooking SeaWorld, crop some of the animals and sights into small sizes.  Then mat those mini photos.  Now you have created your own SeaWorld page accents.
  • Use color to set the tone.  You can use color to enhance your SeaWorld pictures.  Using black and white to highlight Shamu pictures or penguin photos, or lots of blues to convey the ocean theme.
  • While you are at SeaWorld, look for more items that could be used as simple page elements.  I've used one of the penny souvenirs you can make at most theme parks, as well as a postcards purchased in the souvenir shops.
  • I have one album just for scrapbooking pages of SeaWorld visits.  It has my favorite photos from our SeaWorld trips, like when my daughter swam with the dolphins.  I was able to customize the cover of the album with a simple Shamu patch I purchased in the gift shop. I glued it to my blue cloth album cover and added a coordinating gold and blue ribbon and 2 small metal tags that say "family" and "vacation."

With a little creative thinking and using what you have, you can create your own scrapbooking SeaWorld page elements without searching for specially-made, licensed SeaWorld embellishments.  You can use these tips with any theme park scrapbooking project. With some planning before your trip, you can come home and create a customized album with unique page elements to accent your theme park vacation photos.
